Introduction to plesk

Plesk is a control panel available on Windows based hosting accounts and servers. It allows web hosting users to efficiently perform various tasks using a robust and easy to use web interface. It provides all the tools a user need in order to create and manage websites, mailboxes, databases, and many more. The below screenshot displays Plesk interface and shows how tools are arranged here:

  1. This shows currently logged in user name and their selected subscription. The user can change the properties of their account and pick what subscription they want to manage.
  2. This is the Help menu. The Help menu allows user to access online guide and watch video tutorials.
  3. This is the Search field that enables customer to search anything.
  4. This is the navigation pane that various tools grouped by function. It helps organize the Plesk interface. Below is a short description of all the pages and the functionality they enable:
    • Websites & Domains: These tools allows user to add and remove domains, subdomains, and domain aliases. It also allows user to manage web hosting settings, create and manage database users, change DNS settings and secure their websites with SSL certificates.
    • Mail: Tools present here allows customer to add and remove mail accounts, as well as manage mail server settings.
    • Applications: These tools allow customers to easily install and manage variety of web applications.
    • Files: This page has a web-based file manager that enables users to upload content to their website, also manage the files already present in their webspace.
    • Databases: This page access users to create new databases or manage existing ones.
    • Statistics: This page shows usage information of disk and traffic. It Also provides link to web statistics that present a detailed summary of the site’s visitors.
    • Users: These tools access user to add or remove user accounts that allows other people to log in to Plesk.
    • Account: This pages displays resource usage information for the subscription, allowed hosting options and granted permissions. These tools allows user to retrieve and update their personal information and also back up their subscription settings and websites.
  5. This contains all the controls applicable to the page that is currently open. In the above figure, the Websites & Domains page is open.
  6. This contains a variety of different controls and information shows attributes for user’s convenience.
